I just bought a new Fender Stratocaster Standard FSR HSS (Mexican) the Orange Flake. I actually bought it on a whim and am so glad I did! THe guitar plays just as well as my Americans and honestly sounds IMO better. I have been a Les Paul user forever but always had strats for recording- now I am using them as my main guitar. Anyway, the pickups in the FSR are really hot- I had to drop the pup height a little but the overall clarity and sound is awesome- I am wondering if anyone knows the actual type pickup they are using (according to the specs) it is Fender's standard neck and middle- but they are super high output. I would like to get another pair to put in another strat I have. The clarity is unbelievable and the guitar just sings. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi guitkrazy,

Fender won't have info for FSRs on their site, there are too many different versions. The shop, where the guitar was originally purchased, had a batch made exclusively for them. The FSRs typically have special color paint, accessories, and many times will have special pickups that don't come in the Std model. If you could find out where it was originally purchased, they might have the info on the pickups, but the pickups are probably something other than standard. Look at the stagger of the pole pieces. If the stagger is low on both outside poles, progressively getting taller to the middle forming an arch, then they are Mex Std. If the pole pieces are staggered differently than that, then they will be an upgrade from the Std pickups. If you can post pics of the top and bottom of the pick guard, maybe we can identify them better.
