When I do a dive bomb or even a couple little whams, i go out of tune... how do i fix without adding a lock-nut? thats the last thing i want ... I tried waxing the nut, adjusting the trem screws, the springs, the neck bar....different string gauges... i get close and it lasts for one good jam with no problems at all and then its back to square one....
any help would be great....ty

When I put on new strings, I tune 'em then grab each one one at a time above the middle p-up and stretch the heck out of'em back and forth up and down round and round. Tune again and repeat a few times and usually have no problems.

What kind of Strat do you have? i.e. Does your Strat have a vintage style 6 screw bridge, or modern 2-point?

How many string wraps do you put around your tuner posts? Too many or too few wraps can cause tuning issues.

graphtech or roller nut would help also make sure to lube the string tree(s) you could also replace the string trees with graphtech.
