Playing my strats literally takes me away from all the things in my little world that get me down! I must be a tad retarded as I sometimes drool when I'm really into it!

When I can and I feel like it--sometimes--as incredible as it may seem--I need a break from guitar--it comes in waves.

I used to teach guitar and we had a break over the summer--I usually played very little, if at all in July-I needed a break-mostly it was if somebody wanted to jam.

But in August I'd start playing stuff I wanted to--and that had nothing to do with teaching. During the rest of the year it depended how busy I was with other stuff--and how much stuff I had to figure out for students.

These days--like I said it goes in waves.

I own a business so I work a lot but I play at least 1 hour a night till I hit the hay. Not enough but it's a great stress reliever.

I spend too much time on here too but it's ok, it does not take time away from guitar playing, it's only on company time.
