I still can't believe how cheesy a block they put on those squiers, thin and hollow so how could it ever add any sustain to the guitar ?

Not exactly their high end line now is it? Premier Guitar ran an article a couple of months ago about how a pickup change could alter the personality of an economy line Stratocaster and the writer used a Squier as the test bed. So no surprise at your result. Old Blackie was a mongrel too.

Nice to see on the Forum. Hope you had a great day with the family yesterday. 8)

It even impressed my 18 year old son, and that is not an easy task !

Still working out a little fret buzz on the lower E and A strings, I had to do a lot of work on the bridge and truss rod to get it where i wanted it.

Still can't believe hoe nice the finish and frets are on this neck, its poly but it feels decent and looks like a million bucks

Do a ggogle search for gfs pickups and you will find the guitar fetish web site.
I bought the pickups and the block from there.
They have all sorts of low cost add ons and the pickups are great for the price !!!

I tried the brass block from gfs in my 60 classic player strat and although it increased the sustain, i wasnt happy with how it kinda mellowed out the sound. I sent it back and exchanged it for the steel block and instant smile. Its like everything it was before but better. More chime ,sustain, even brighter. I swear ive done a lot of pup swapping in my day, and its like i installed new pickups or something. Highly reccomended! Best $20 ever spent on a strat mod.

+1 on the GFS pups. I swapped out the pups in my MIM Strat with a set of premium overwounds and could not be happier. If you like SRV tone this is the set, I also changed out the pots and cap. For the price you can't go wrong. Over the weekend I installed a set of GFS Lil' Punchers in an old Korean Squier I bought on e-bay last year, and I was surprised how good they sound for the money.
