Im a noob here but am a kindred spirit as I have both the Fiesta Red and Surf Green '09 ltd series STRATS. I'll tell u that they are the best STRATS I've played and heard out of myriad. I dig'em so much dude. To me there's not a classier look than the matching headstock & rosewood f-board. Sharper than a shark skin suit yo! Seriously tho I really am impressed with the features, playability and tone of these workhorses. The bridges R dual post fulcrum w/ vintage style saddles. Plus the treble PU is wired to the tone pot and that bridge pup is HOT! Cheers!! :D

I remember these. I believe they came in fiesta red and Daphne blue and surf green. They where limited (500 each) and had matching head stocks. Fender also released three tele models with the same color coordination. I almost bought the surf green strat but i just didnt like the matching head stock (just not a big fan but if you are good for you) and got a 62 RI strat in surf green.

Sorry for the late reply. It's been 2 years now and I have to say, since I bought the guitar I haven't thought one moment 'if I could only upgrade this or that' 'I need new pickups' 'I need better tuners'. Not once.

To me that's the first time in the 25 years that I play the guitar. I just feel like I'm done. I'm sure there is a better guitar out there somewhere, but I don't miss it. The tones on this one are perfect for me, with the stock pick-ups. It stays perfect in tune even with tremolo abuse and I can leave it in it's case, pick it up a week later and it's still in tune...

In retrospect, I do find the small neck a bit hard sometimes, but I've gotten used to that and to me the tonal quality's of this guitar make up for that.

And seriously, I have never ever gotten hold of a guitar which resonates more than this one. Unplugged, just pulling a random string or note will make you feel the whole body of the guitar vibrate. It really is amazing how much that guitar can resonate. I think that is why (next to my fingers) I can get really close to that Mark Knopfler tone.

Only thing I really fear is that one day, the neck will be worn down and will have to be replaced. There won't be a replacement that also has the painted headstock, so I would have to opt for the more expensive way to fix the neck... Letting a luthier install a new fretboard.

But that day is many, many years away. Who knows, it might never come.

All in all, I really love this guitar.

Got myself my first tube amp btw this week. A fender hot rod deluxe, old version. Knowing that fender has better amps, I still think the combination strat + fender tubes = darn good :D

There is one thing I did 'upgrade' though. I put on a set of strap-locks. For safety-reasons.

@cechansler, true, they also made a hot rod deluxe in those colours to go with them.
And I think the 62 ri's are also excellent guitars.

Send your serial number to Fender Customer Service. That should help you out more than what any of us can tell you. BTW, one of my favorite colors... Have any pics?
