I usually buy the wifey a couple of things before i go for my big buy an amp or strat or pedal.. But she dont know or dont care how much things cost as long as she has what she wants shes happy....

My wife has complete freedom to spend as she pleases, so if I want a new guitar I just need to give her a heads up that it will be showing up at the house and she will be cool with it . . . if I did not say anything it might be a different story.

Ya...pretty much how it works in my house too. We trust each other enough to know the other won't make a foolish purchase. A heads-up is all that we need for big ticket items .
