Ok, I finished a job up, (I own my own construction company) and after putting away money for all of our household bills, all of the kids Christmas presents and emergency cash, I got money left over. Should I buy the Gilmour Custom Shop NOS, or get another 57 AVHR, and another tube amp? So many choices, and no matter which way I go the wife is gonna give me hell. How do I go forward knowing the crap storm I'll be in for?
But on the bright side I get new gear, and the wife won't talk to me for a couple weeks.(so I will be left alone to enjoy it)

I think you should buy either one of those guitars, or both, and send them to me before your wife sees them. That way you get the pleasure of getting to buy them without the grief from her

Enjoy the earnings from your own labour mate! Tha hell with the wifes! I´ve bought another strat last month, and she still thinks I´ve borrowed it  . How silly wifes are, mine at least.
When I get my own GAS attacks, it only passes by when I actually buy some guitar rig.
Yeah I get thinking, "Should I?" but in the end i say "Ive worked hard for this money, Ive bought presents, Ive paid the bills, so WTF!".
I´ve seen this episode many many times, and in the end I always end up with a guitar in my hands 8)

OR

You can always skip the wife, and get one of these:

PS: if I got the $ I would go for a gilmour strat. or even a clapton.

I'm just curious why the wife would be upset. Is there a chance you might not find another construction job soon, and you'll need to save all the dough from this most recent one?

Gentlemen, let's be reasonable here, the mrs newt has
got to put her foot down in this situation!

Ok the wife is gone, get the gilmour .
Easier to beg for forgiveness, than to request permission.

When the wife starts nagging the paint of the walls you can either turn up the volume or chew it over with a Twix.

Man,everytime I read something about nagging wives, and husbands worried about them,I just don't understand...if you make the money, spend it on the guitar...if she doesn't like it don't worry...maybe you'll get lucky like me and get divorced. 8)
PS... just don't let 'em get their hands on your gear!

Myself (and this is just me) I never would buy any guitar without my wife at least saying ok (it might be with a frown, but still its a ok) My last guitar I got, well I am still getting it (wrong time of the year to pay out that kind of money, I should have it home by mid December) I did buy without asking her first but I ran into what I think was a good deal (a eppi Zak Wylde. a guy bought then didnt like it after about a week of owning it, so i got it for $600 with coffin case) although she didnt say anything I could see in her eyes she was upset.

Anyhow long story short, after 26 years, 6 kids, 7 grandkids. somehow I feel like I cheated on her by getting it.

and before someone say from an old post of mine, I still dont care for Sig. guitars (if it has to have a name on it I want it to be mine) but the neck felt so great on this one.

Why not buy your wife areally nice purse, or jewelry.
Then after she is in her honeymoon with her prize, drop
the guitar bomb, show her the picture of it and tell her
this is your passion.
