Hi pip_du, welcome to the forum, how are you, and how's your day been so far? :)

Now, after we've sorted out the proper greetings like gentlemen, I think you mean the contoured heel? (Where the neck meets the body).

I think you will find on the product page it says that this guitar in fact does have a contoured heel. So happy playing with that fine guitar! :D

Regards,

-Nutter

Hi pip_du,

Nice Strat, congrats. Maybe you can post a pic or two? Try this for description. :)

Sounds like you got the older model - it was made from 2004 through the end of 2009. The new ones came out around March of this year.

Main differences - yours has a straight 9.5" radius, abalone dots, and SCN pickups. The new ones have a compound radius (9.5" to 14"), black pearl dots, and the N-3 pickups. There are also some cosmetic differences - for example the older candy apple red had a gold pickguard, the new candy apple red has an aged white pickguard.

That's a nice one. If I'm remembering correctly all Am Dlx V-necks had alder bodies regardless of color (on some models the blonde finish is on an ash body).

Enjoy!!

Finally, I still do not trust ,Change order American Standard 0110402706.

I think the standard edition price better.

Thanks to everyone here on the forum who helped me and answered my questions.

If you like the Standards better then you might as well save the cash.

However, there is nothing wrong with the American Deluxe V-neck. It just just a 2009 model.

Fender needs to archive their product info somewhere when they put out new models; that would help out people who aren't familiar with their product line when they come across older models that are still hanging up new in the stores.

+1 I think Fender should have a database for the Special Runs also. So we can know what we have and about the similar releases over the years.
