I was wondering about my neck and the maple used for it. Its a FSR American Standard, note the dark circle on the 1st fret between the 3rd and 4th strings, I dunno much about wood types and shapes, can you guys tell me more about it ?

Thanks fhopkins. You know how we strat lovers can be sensitive to every detail about our girls. 8)
I was wondering if anyone can explain me the maple woods and why this particular piece is that way.

Hi joaokorb: it looks like a very tiny bit of "figure" - a unique pattern in the grain. Absolutely nothing to worry about. It just means you can more easily pick you guitar out of a police line up.

Which is nice.

Cheers - C

Be fair, it's better than something else a bird might do on your neck...

Its just a little charactor. It goes a long way and its a reminder to you that the guitar is unique and all yours!

All that is, is a knot in the wood. In your particular situation, it is irrelevant for all intents and purposes.

The real question is, is a bird in the hand worth two in the bush?
