Giving serious thought to replacing the bridge SC in my 2010 MIA Std Strat with a humbucker.

I'm looking for something hot enough to drive my 6L6 -Based Mesa Express towards an early EVH sound, yet that will also clean up reasonably well when coil-tapped so I don't chase the duck out of the position #2 pond.

Having heard many good things about several Dimarzio options, I'd like to get other's opinions on this forum regarding which of their 'buckers will play nice with the stock Fender SC pups.

I'd like to get some idea for the tonal differences I could expect between a "Habanero" unit such as the Tone Zone and one of the many lower output voiced models that Dimarzio offers, especially in reference to re-creating the classic "Brown" sounds heard in 70's thru mid 80's rock. Not looking for molten metal material on this guitar.

Does the form factor impact the tone much? (i.e. "classic" side by side vs. "fits into single coil slot").

I guess that is probably more than enough for one post, so I'll cut it off here.

Thanks in advance to all who reply,

Scott

i really enjoy seymour duncan pickups. i use an sh-6 but that might be a little too hot for what you are describing. have you thought about an seymour duncan jb(sh-4) i think that would work well for what you are looking for
