Just recieved my Fender Classic player's 50's Strat from MF. A lot or research went into the purchase and I have some questions. Why would some buy a MIM strat for $799 when an American strat is the same price? It seems to me that a lot of strats are configures the same and have the same price point yet sold under different labels. My guess is if someone wants a 50,60,70 strat that is affordable them MIM is the way to go. But in doing that one is taking a chance on quality. The same can be said for American quality too i guess. I thought GAS stood for Get Another Strat.

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on your new Strat.
I have a CP 50s myself and really like it!. As to you question... In my opinion, Fender has price points for nearly all budgets and levels of play. Most folks aren't concerned with who made it... Its just about the playability of the guitar itself. Well thats just my 2 Cents...

Welcome and congrats!

There is no less quality in a MIM vs. a MIA. Frills, yes; quality, no.

Welcome to the forum,
to answer your question, Here in Canada my MIM was $549. the US standard is $1049. $500. is why I purchased an MIM!
