I done the check with prssing down on the 1st and last fret and then checking the space on the 8th fret. I need to put just a little bow in my neck. It's pretty much completely straight. (no bow) Strings are too close to the neck. Its a vintage style neck AVRI 57 with the truss rod at the base of the neck. With the fret board facing up do I turn it the bolt to the left ot right. I'm pretty sure I turn it to the left. But I need to make sure. I dont want to turn it the wrong way and then have to go back and forth with it. I'm not too comfortable doing this.

I found the information on you tube. Loosening it will allow the neck to bow a little.

You dont NEED relief but sometimes you can get a better action by adding some.

If the strings are buzzing when you play it will only really correct it in the lower register (the frets on the headstock side of the neck).
If its buzzing towards the neck pocket or body then check the action height and adjust the saddles if required. Or look for high frets (several things can cause buzzing).
