the only small headstock strats with F Tuners were the Dan Smith Strats of the early eighties.

also, some eye candy from my '64 (Custom Shop, of course... wish I had a '64 or '65 lol)

That's one fantastic looking guitar, chanman. Excellent pics, too. I don't think I would suffer any early to mid 60s vintage Strat envy if I owned that.

I would love to own a vintage 50s Strat but I was born 10 years too late and I didn't have the foresight to buy one years ago before the vintage market went crazy. So I bought a Custom Shop '56 NOS, my GAS pains went away and I saved lots of money.

Who said GAS sufferers can't be thrifty?

Don't think I'd be much help. My ex said she would leave if I bought another guitar. :)

(Not really but I like that joke)

thanks man! it is a keeper for sure! 1 of 50 in that color for 2009 (Candy Tangerine)

When I was in Boston a little while back at Berklee, I went down to the Boylston St. GC where they keep a good number of vintage strats. I had them pull out a '64, and a mint '63 w/tags for me to compare to my guitar. I gotta say other than the neck, the two I played weren't too fantastic. the '64 was pretty beat up. both were crazy light guitars.

they wanted 27k for the '64 and like 35 for the '63. compared to the '64 LTD I have (3.5k) the '64 LTD blew both of them. I will say though that the '63 sounded a little better than the '64 but didn't get quite up there with my personal guitar.

Thats the one thing that the Fender Doesn't get right on any reissue I have played. For some reason, whether the actual wood or finish, but real vintage 50s and 60s strats are really light guitars ( at least the dozen or so I have played).

yeah, something to do with the wood aging and losing mass or density or something on the real thing... can't recall exactly the thing that made them so light...
