Hi guys!
Im just about to buy new guitar and so i wanted to make sure i make a good choice.
I got about 1000$ to spent. I been serachin throu ebay and i found some really nice 90's am standards :) I was thinking that it'd be good to buy 90's usa made, as i had a great mexico 1996 strat and it was great playin guitar.

How d'you think? Are they worthy? Or maybe there's a much more reasonable guitar for something about thousand dolars?

thanks for answers! :)

If I had 1000 bucks today:
If I wanted to go new, I would go American Standard.
If I wanted to go used I would go Stratocaster Plus.

The Stratocaster Plus is a great guitar with Lace Sensors from factory. And the paintjob is just awesome! Try to find them on ebay.

For those dollars I would shop around for an American Series. The are really quality guitars that will last you a lifetime. Spend some time at your local music store or whom ever has a great selection of these beautiful Strats and Tele's.Pick through them and play them through a good clean Tube amp if you can and I think you will find one that you like. If not take your time do not rush.Enjoy the experience! Rember it is your hard earned money take your time. Sometimes small local shops are best. You can negotiate and get a setup included.

I have to say I have placed colour at the bottom of the buy list because if I do not like the tone it does not matter what the color is I won't play the guitar.

Although I do not own one, do not over look a Jaguar they are great too.

American Strat Deluxe
ES335
58 VOS Les Paul
59 Bassman Reissue (great amp)

Former Owner
Fender American Tele HS
Fender American Delux HSS Strat
Super Reverb
Hot Rod Deluxe

Vintage Vibe..... Humm..

Well a Baja Tele is pretty cool. And if you are okay with pre -owned then if you could find a strat pus they are very cool.As mentioned. I would look for a 57 Reissue.Great Guitar.I have had internal debate over a 57 strat or a 52 Tele Reissue for years they are symbols of Fenders great history.

You could find a used American and place the Vintage strat pick-ups in.
Blues Junior is another legend and great choice.

Checkout Gregsguitars on youtube.

American Vintage series is preety much what you´re after.
New youll find them for around 1400 bucks, and 1000 bucks used.

hmm.. which would be a better choice?
to buy this vintage reissue

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1999-FENDER-57-RE ... 356wt_1139

or american std. from from nineties? i would prolly upgrade p-ups for some vintage lindy fralin or something

http://cgi.ebay.com/1991-92-AMERICAN-FE ... _500wt_922

vintage reissue is nice but 22 frets would work better for me and the bridge is better on am std.. and i like non screw tuners more than vintage ones, how do these guitars compare with their quality?

what do you think guys? :)

cheers, thanks for all help ! ;-)

If you don't want actual vintage, and don't have to have American these are great guitars for the money (in my order of preference):
Classic Player 50s
Jimmy Vaughn signature.
Road Worn '50s

Hi olelancucki,

For me, the Am Std would be a better player, med jumbo frets, 9.5 inch neck radius, better/modern tuners and 2-point tremolo. The RI will have vintage small frets, 7.25 inch neck radius, vintage style tuners, 6-screw bridge. But, which you like more is what matters, these two choices are quite a bit different in feel, looks and sound.

Edit:
P.S. For $1K, I would get a new 2010 Am Std. It is a better guitar than one from the 90s. :)

Fender has made some very nice improvements since then to the Stratocasters. As for the 2008 to present models we have the medium-jumbo frets, C shape neck 9.5 radius, 2 point tremolo with bent steel saddles, wiring, pickups etc.
Take a look at my new stratocaster I´ve bought. Its pretty much the same as a usual American Standard, but its FSR with some plus as the Mercedes Blue color and Texas Special pickups came stock on it.

Better saddles, less wood removed for pickup routing, H/S/H Pickup Routing (no more swimming pool route), satin finish on back of neck, tinted neck, buffed finger board, thinner finish undercoat, better case, bi-flex truss rod, better pickups, delta-tone control, staggered tuners, vintage spaghetti logo. I may have missed some things. I left out the "Copper Infused" bridge block because I don't think that was an improvement, I replaced mine with a Callaham. :)
