So I am spending a week in Seattle and my hotel is 5 blocks from Paul Allen's Experience Music Project. I decided to use my free afternoon and check it out. This place does not disappoint.

Upon entering the exhibit I was greeted by Mr. Fender's Telecaster prototype. I then entered the Jimi Hendrix Experience exhibit and the have a piece of the bashed up broken Monterey strat. I then went into the hall of guitars.

Well, I could go on all day about how cool this place is, but I suppose I'll just have to put in a plug....If any of you are in Seattle with a free afternoon. This place is worth your free afternoon.

I was there a few years ago. Took my two youngest kids and wife there. They actually really liked it as much as me and I still have a guitar pick I got from there. Then they had this corny thing where you could get on stage and play in front of a fake audience. That was a little tacky, but the kids dug it. We had the choice of having all the music canned or could actually play along, and of course, I chose the second. It sounded pretty good and I started getting into it, to the embarrassment of my family! But when they had to drag me out because I was playing the guitar with my teeth, smashed it against the Marshall cab and started to light it on fire with lighter fluid—my family told me they would never go there with me again.... Such is life....... I just do not know what their problem was... ....Really, it was fun and a very interesting to see all the original stuff, like Hendrix's guitar, fuzz tone and wah wah plus some of his clothes.

lmao,
the only thing you missed was banging up against it and the amp as if you were making sweet love to it, but then again little ones were there, that would have been too obscene, eh  .

The prototype I suppose by all rights I should have posted this in the telecaster forum, but I play strats and didn't think about that until now. Anyway, enjoy the pics and if you get a chance it is worth the $15 it costs.

You managed to sneak some pictures while there! Cool! I took few pics when I was there a few years ago and was promptly scolded by the security guards. Apparently in the guidebook somewhere there is some small fine print that states photography is not allowed in the museum. Oh well, at least I got pics of those Strats like you did since that was the highlight for me.
