Hi guys,

First post here :) Hope you can help me with this one; i'm starting to get nervous about this.

Here is the deal: i bought this brand new 2010 American Standard about a month ago from a local Dealer here in Argentina.

Yesterday I was cleaning my guitar and while inspecting the back of the neck, i found this tiny hearline crack just where the darker wood that covers the truss rod begins. I'm attaching a picture since it will be more explanatory (it's not of the greatest quality but I think it will help)

Is this something I should be worried about? It's definitely not a wood line, it's a crack; luckily it hasn't extended after plating the guitar for 5 hours yesterday.

Does the Fender warrant cover this kind of issues? FWIW the truss rod has never been adjusted; the guitar is set up as it came out of the dealer; I only adjusted the action (saddles) and intonation.

Thanks in advance for any feedback/help you guys may be able to provide!

Cheers from Argentina :)

Jon.

If the crack is on one piece of wood, it's a problem.
If the crack is in the walnut to maple joint it's less of a problem.

Both of those eventualities are covered by the warranty.

If the crack is on the finish, I dunno. I don't think it's covered. However it's not likely a problem likely to get worse.

Take it back mate.

If you can not return or exchange the guitar due to the store policy, you can still get it assessed and fixed under warranty but be prepared to be without the guitar for an extended time.

If you are lucky and you can try to request this (tell your service tech that the guitar is absolutely essential to livelihood and you can not be without it) maybe Fender will ship a new neck to the dealer and tech guy there will do a replacement when it arrives. In the mean time play the heck out of it.

I don't know if that will work, but worth a shot
