Uhhhh, yeah. Would you like fries with that?

When in Portugal......

rawnoise,

Boa Sorte

(Hey! I didn't know I could speak Portugese! )

Longa Vida Portugal!!!

Hehe, thanks for the effort, you did great  And you didn't offend me, anyway I wouldn't think for a second of running away with the guitar or simply claiming it as mine, if I get to keep it, it will be with my uncle's permission after he realizes the value and quality of this instrument. I may be young but I know how to make my decisions.

Inform your uncle as to the value of the guitar so that he can make a more informed decision as to what he wishes to do with it. If he knew the true value of the guitar, he'd have it under lock down.

I'm going to chime in here...

If the OP is serious about owning this guitar, maybe you can work out a payment plan with your uncle. He sounds like a reasonable guy...

Now, this is no joke -- it's a serious investment piece, but not the worst way for a lifelong musician to invest his money. I'd say, conservatively, this guitar would sell at auction for $10-12K -- a "mortgage" for a 20 year-old. But if you really want this, you have to conduct yourself like an adult. I suggest a term agreement that would allow you to own the guitar over time, with surviving family being the beneficiary of that agreement in the event of your uncle's passing. It's either that or you live with your uncle's decision.

Stealing this guitar is not the way to go.

Hey everyone,

Last post before the chat with my uncle... Just wanted to stop by and tell you how grateful I am for your support, it really touched me.

In a couple of hours I'll stop by his place, maybe jam a bit with him and them tell him the value of the guitar and what it means to me, and whatnot... We'll see what happens, I'm ready to let it go though, just restringed my HW1 (and felt like bumping my head agaisnt a wall after playing it again...)

WELL! See you guys later  Thank you

I wouldn't even really bother telling him...tell him simply "thanks for letting me borrow this great guitar"...you wont be able to afford it...that guitar is well worth over $10k...just give the guitar back to him and let bye gones be bye gones...IT IS NOT YOUR GUITAR

I'd tell him for sure what it's worth, and I'd thank him for giving you possibly the one and only chance to play your dream guitar, maybe once he realizes it's true worth he may have second thoughts about who the next owner should be.

Im jealous that you got to play it as long as you did. The longest I have ever had the privilege to play a vintage Strat was about half an hour.

I lost track of it after looking at that Brazil Girl, I would like to see her clasping a guitar or me... just like the others in another forum on here that Big The Cat posted "Is it always this dramatic" :P

Maybe if he knew that the guitar is not an old piece of worthless junk and is worth $10k he would want to sell it. Your Uncle sounds like a good guy. Maybe you could offer to sell it for him and in return he'll buy you a new American Strat. This way everyone is happy.

My Uncle got a cold, and asked me to come on another day... I hate postponing this kind of stuff. Guess I'll just have to wait another week.
