well chris im kind of new to the temolo as well, but you dont have to keep tape over the hole, that sticker was there so the spring would not fall out.

thats my contribution. good luck

Makes it easier to re-string your guitar.

Don't worry about that spring, it is there to give tension to the bar so you don't have to torque it tight. I lose em occassionaly but pruchased a bunch from a local shop. You could put tape over the hole if you want but it is just a little screw. In a pinch you can take a pushpen apart and take the spring out, cut about 1/3 off and use that.

Screw the arm down until it has a bit of tension from the spring so it won't flop around on you. There is a fine line between tight and loose. To tight or to loose is not good for me. On my strats I will pull the bar up and whammy away then let go and it will drop back down, but won't flop around once it is there. I think it really is personal preference. Just don't screw it in too tight or too little, you might shear the bar off at the end and then you got yourself a problem.

I usually screw in the bar until I feel it tightening up and back it off one turn.

Unfortunately when I bought my strat about 7 years ago, there was no arm spring in it. At that time I didn't know any better and didn't think there was suppose to be one. Some little punk in the music store probably lost it, but oh well.

Since I'm not use to having one, I never worried with getting a replacement. It's for the better I guess, I prefer the arm to swing out of the way when I'm done using it.

About that back cover, mine came off about month after I got my guitar. The edge of the thing kept hanging on my belt buckle and it get's aggravating when your in the middle of a song and you need to shift your guitar around alittle.

Yeah, I wind the bar until I feel it tighten and then go back one or two turns
