I've been using Ernie Ball Super Slinkys on my Strats almost exclusively. Recently I discovered coated strings on a different forum, so I started doing some research and found out, there are actually a few options when it comes to strings,i.e. coated, nickel, nickel plated, steel, reinforced, etc....

what kind of strings do you like???? and why???

For regular play I have Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (.010) on my Strats and Ernie Ball Super Slinkies (.009) on my Music Man. I don't like a Floyd Rose with 10's. When I go to gig I switch to DR Tite Fit, same gauges. The DR's just have a ring to them that I like. To be totally honest, they probably sound the same, but I just like the DR's. Too expensive to use them for daily usage though. For my Martin 000-28EC I use Martin Clapton's Choice light gauge, .012 I think.

D'Addario EXL116 11 / 14 / 18 / 30w / 42w / 52w on my road worn
D'Addario EXL115 11 / 14 / 18 / 28w / 38w / 49w on my les paul
D'Addario EXL110 10 / 13 / 17 / 26w / 36w / 46w on my American satandard strat.

i used to play earnie balls but they always, always broke on me, constantly. and the only way i break D'Addario is if im being stupid and bending like a maniac.

I use .11 power slinkies on my American standard. I do a lot of bending and extended bends. Haven't had any problems with breakage.

I just switched to D'Addario Chromes 12-52. They are flat wound steel strings, and have a nice mellow tone.

If I use the 12's I can set the action so low that the guitar plays just as easy as 9's. Also, there is absolutely no finger squeek...:)

Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys (.10) for me. .9s feel a bit fragile to me. Also prefer the noticable tone difference i get with 10s

Super Slinkies or Super Slinky Nickel Rockers. Sometimes I like the pure nickel wrap for a warmer tone.

As for my sweating hands, I have no other options then go on COATED strings. Tried D´ddarios EXP but had not enought lifetime as promoted. Usually takes about 4 weeks to the strings to rust.

Now I use only Elixir´s Nanoweb Light Strings 10-46. They last from 4 to 6 months without rusting and playing almost everyday ! And the Elixir´s have a special feel to it, seems like the strings are on butter, just so easy to go up and down the neck, you don´t feel that "stuckness" of some strings as time passes by. And Elixir´s never broke even 1 string on me. The best for me.

I usually play with D'Addario strings - - no particuliar reason except that I've been using them for so long with good results so why change.

I play Fender Super Bullet 10's. They don't last long for me but to me, the play and bend easier than the D'Adario's.

I've tried a number of strings and just started using the Fender pure nickel .009 on am Amer Std. I love the way they feel and they seem to hold their tone well with time. I bend a lot too. I will replace my current set with another set.
