Is there a resource that will tell us what size neck a certain Strat will have? I'm refering to the amount of wood in your hand.

Thanks

They also tell the back shape... modern "C", soft "V", etc.

That's a good question Guitarman - I know exactly what you mean. I've played Strat's that felt like I was holding a baseball bat which turned me off to buying one. Then, I tried my 2006 American - which has a slim beautiful neck - and I fell in love and bought it the same day. I haven't been able to find specs anywhere on this issue. All of the 2006 American necks that I've tried seem to be that way though. more of a soft "D" shape than a cluncky "C".

Try contacting Fender Customer Service.

I had questions about neck thickness when I was ordering a Gibson, I contacted them and got the answer I wanted about the neck sizes.

I found that to be true also. It seems like the 2006 american standard strats have a slimmer to almost a soft "U" shape than the other american standard strats of different years. Even the 2007 Highway one strats have a thicker neck than the 2006 american standard strat.
