More of a fuzzy overdrive than a all out fuzz pedal.

The clean amp at the begining is that 18watter I knocked up. You can hear it rattle the cooker in the kitchen at one point.

Nice mate, sounds really good - I'd like to hear that again with a tad bit of chorus and delay. My, aren't we a talented bunch! :)

Might be able to do a rather good ZZTop with that lot, mate. :?:

Funny you should say that, I was trying for the Afterburner sound. Dunno what it's down to but I couldnt get enough treble without pushing the gain through the roof though.

Chorus??? what's that? Is it that effect they use on 80's pop songs?
I don't own a chorus pedal mate. I had a brilliant one years ago, a Vox 1905.

Haven't found anything anywhere near as good since, so just haven't bothered.

Nik were you playing the Buzzard thru single coils or humbuckers in that sound bite? If it was single coil I'm impressed with the pinch harmonics you got out of it.

Singles, on my baja telecaster. Neck first then bridge I think. It could have been anything though.
Please don't judge the pedal by that. I'll get on and record the new improved version tonight. It's much better, much more bite, far fuzzier, more scope, closer to the one Mr X has.
Kinda Isley bro's on a serious amount of acid.
Why I'm hoping Mr X records his. That guy knows a thing or two about playing and recording.

Think I've found the ultimate source of transistors too their all very similar. Just been through the six pedals I have near finished (just trying to sort decals).

Really considering the Zinky method and hand painting them. It's turning into a nightmare. £180 for 10 decals localy. Get em from some guy in Wales a lot cheaper, but he's asking all sorts of questions about resolution I just don't understand.

You sir have your hands in a bit of everything. :D I can barely tell the difference between a transistor and a tube and you build boutique pedals in your kitchen...Impressive. I hope Xefhri gets around to posting the sound bites. Hope you get the decal thing sorted out soon.

I can only get pinch harmonics out of my single coils with some serious overdrive and then its a delicate balancing act between the pick attack and my fretting fingers because there is so much unwanted noise if you brush the wrong string. I don't have that problem with the humbuckers I guess because they're hotter and break up sooner.

Practice doing em un-amped mate. Thats what I did, took a good bit of time but got there. That edge of the thumb is just making a harmonic over the pickups instead of on the fretboard. The fretted note is underneath the harmonic, kind of. What you don't get un-amped is all the associated noise from other strings. Maybe it will get you focusing on the note and not worrying about the noise. Then once you have the note sounding strong, do it amped and work on cleaning it up.
Small plectrums and right hand position makes all the difference.

I've a old 2 pence coin that I cut and filed down to plectrum shape thats brilliant for pinched harmonics.

Perhaps laying the guitar flat on your lap, hitting the harmonic with your thumb and plucking the string with a finger may help? It's all about finding your way, thats best for you aint it. I wouldn't dismiss any method or any way to get where I'm going. Even if it looks a bit lame now, it could turn into a brilliant idea later.

Thanks for th tip Nik I'll do the unamped bit for awhile and see if it improves. I do use a small thick pic either a Dunlop 3mm or a V pick depending on whats handy.
I generally don't have trouble generating the harmonic with my pic and thumb but it doesn't sustain as long on the single coil as it does on the humbucker and seems a little weaker as well. I guess that is more along the line of what I was trying to say earlier.

Wot? I beg your pardon?

You gotta explain that a bit more, please...

Cheers - C

Variations in pickus and pot setting from the guitar should be able to color the signal before the processor in order to get that. You may need an HB for that effect.

I don't own a chorus pedal mate... Haven't found anything anywhere near as good since, so just haven't bothered.

Here is my combo: A Super Sonic BUZZARD with a Ibanez CS9 Chorus. This is the same one Pat Metheny uses and was made in the early 1980.

My typical stomp box has been this BOSS ME50. Love this thing for the delay, reverb and compression. Tonight is my music night, so I will record the Buzzard doing its terrifying screech, lofty solo flights and cawing mating sounds.

I do mine with Lazertran paper for ink jet printers. This site is asking £12 for eight sheets, though I seem to recall I bought mine cheaper over the counter:

http://www.on-linepaper.co.uk/acatalog/ ... ducts.html

Or if you don't want to do it yourself, I've still got a pack or two lying around: email me your design, tell me how big you want it and I'll print out as many as you like.

And if you try and give me a penny for it I'll run screaming like a child who's seen a spider. So.

Cheers - C

PS That eight sheet pack does me enough headstock transfers for about eight hundred guitars. I'd better get cracking!
