Not to argue or disagree with someone who has been so helpful to me on this forum, but....isn't that a 3 tone sunburst?

It looks like there is a 3rd shade between the burst and the black edges.

It's a two-tone, rabmag.

Here's the same guitar, under more normal lighting conditions......

ah, my apologies. The other photo really makes it look different.

You have beautiful guitars. May I ask, what kind of guitar is the white one with the tortoise shell pickguard? Looks like it has the old version string tree.

And is that monster amp in the back a Deluxe Reverb? :P

That's my custom-made Mary Kaye hardtail -- ash body with all-nitro finish and 1956-era appointments. Fat '50s pickups under the hood.

If you're referring to the blonde amp, yes -- it's a modified DRRI (known colloquially as the "Spankmaster Reverb").

I been thinking about making my next big guitar purchase being a American Standard tele in the two-tone burst and maple neck.
The two tone to me would really show the grain, and looks amazing in stage lights 8)

As we see, those old two-tones can sometimes look like three-tones ...

Am I old-fashioned? Image Yes! and I agree with Hop. We all have our tastes. And our right to proclaim these! ;-)

I kinda like them all. They each have their own individual appeal. A lot has to do with how well the burst is done, the more subtle the gradations between colors, the better, IMO.

I'd argue that 2tsb is infact the classiest colour on a strat:

Just an example. This is the Eric Johnson signature off the products page.

Old?!?!?

Only if you consider a MIM Classic '50s built in '99 to be "old".
