i bought a Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH 3-tone color MIM recently at the GC. guess it was a floor model, didn't come in a box or anything.

most pics i see of them have the pups with a chrome cover.

does that make a difference or not? mine didn't come with the covers. i'm quite the beginner hence the question

thx

You would need to graph the soundwaves to see any possible difference with or without.

The covers are there for two reasons.
they keep foreign objects from entering the magnetic field and also keep the pickup windings,( because of the thin wire are fragile and easily damaged or broken.) from being damaged.
Once a winding is broken the conductivity is interupted and a pick up becomes dead.

This strat looks like excellent value for the dollar to me. How do you like it? Can you share any info on the quality?

Maybe I am wrong but I did not think the Blacktop came in 3csb..Just black, car and sonic blue. Nope just checked you have something different.

you are correct. being a total beginner, i was incorrect in that.

what i actually purchased was this:

FSR Standard Stratocaster(r) HH (3-Color Sunburst Metallic)

as being quite new to a guitar, all i can say now is i like it but i'm learning more about myself regarding the guitar.

i'm having the strings lowered as i found for me they sat too high for the vintage style frets. for a beginner learning chords and stuff, for now that will be ok.

though, in the future, when i get a bit more proficient with playing, i think i would like the medium jumbo frets installed. that may be a silly thing to do since this is a new guitar but as i mentioned i'm learning more about my physical/mechanical hands/fingers that may just make it easier for me to play with the medium jumbo frets.

btw, i was wrong in stating it was a blacktop, it is actually a
FSR Standard Stratocaster(r) HH (3-Color Sunburst Metallic)

sorry for the delay, been on vacation
