This is supposed to be a custom shop neck. A friend inquired to me about this and sent me some pics. I am somewhat at a loss. The guitar was evidently built to be a custom shop relic-- built from random parts. . Here are the pics I was given.

Any help in confirming anything about this guitar would be much appreciated.

Thanks

It looks like a MIM neck based on the truss rod opening. And I think the custom shop would of done a lot better job if they made it.

I would be interested in knowing what the string spacing is on the bridge. If it's an american bridge, it could of been a Tex-Mex strat.

I'm not sure about those decals either. Looks like some things are not what they are purported to be! :? I've been known to be wrong so why not ask ME?

Thanks to you guys for the quick replies.

I should also mention, the guitar is one that is for sale, for very cheap... why my buddy emailed me some pics in the first place. Super cheap, like around 3 Benjamin Franklins. Makes it more fishy, IMO, though. Maybe it is worth it for a beginner (my friend).

Yeah, i was thinking some sort of illusion of a real strat myself... Here is a pic of the bridge, it may help with some other aspects.

The neck is mexican, the body looks to be a laminate body. Not Fender, not even squier. Notice the cavilty walls.

Lot's of good tips here! Extra holes in the body for the pickguard, wrong route in the body for a vintage CS relic re-issue, looks like there was at onetime different tuning pegs on this thus different mounting holes?? (Or am I seeing things?) and questionable CS logo.....the guitar is very questionable....... :?:

Definitely not a Custom Shop neck, not even close. I agree, the black around the truss rod adjust hole indicates a Mex, or maybe a Squier, judging from the extra holes on the back of headstock, they are located where the cheap tuners on a Squier are.

The ONLY thing that I see that is Custom Shop, are the pickups, maybe Texas Specials. Nice selector switch, and maybe decent tuners. Horrible "relic" job though. The "relic" tool looks to consist of a bic lighter. And, what's with the cookie crumbs on the bridge?

Compare the CS logo on a real CS Strat and then compare it with the one on this guitar. Fender has had a few different designs, but I have not found one exactly like the one on the Strat in question. The lower one is a real relic CT Strat....
