I just wanted to ask people's opinions about the American Vintage 70's Reissue Strat.

Pros and cons? Likes and dislikes? What do people think of this model?

The only fault I know of is that it's not totally period correct. They left in the heel cutout on the bass side. While it is correct for telecasters of the time it was not like that on the Strats.

You should also know that all of the problems assosicated with the '70's strats have been corrected on the reissues.

For what it's worth, I have an original '78 that kicks butt!

I know that M.I.A.and M.I.M has it’s pros and con’s on both, but for me and I have the M.I.M. 70’s model, the difference of not just cost but also the fact that the M.I.M. comes in ash only to me is a better deal and they are a great player, look great, and have the old sound to boot. Mine is a 2006 and as for the older models that my not be true as far as craftsmanship and sound but I understand that since Mexico’s up date for the 2006 models that the M.I.M. is not only up to par with the M.I.A. and that some think that it is better over all. But what do I know I’m just a musician.

You know plenty, Steve.

That's one reason why you are so respected on this forum.

The original '70s models suffered from sporadic QA/QC issues as regards the neck pocket and the then-new 3-bolt neck with the micro-tilt feature. The re-issue MIA's and MIM's have completely rectified that situation and are fine guitars. I do wish that FMIC would use a lighter grade of ash though.

Thanks Arjay
That kind of a complement coming from a person of your background might just give a person a big head.
Damn just bumped it on the overhead of my door
