So i have been looking at 62 reissue strat for a while and after playing them at guitar center i fell in love with it. I was on Wild wood guitars earlier today and they had some great looking strats i was looking at the Fender Custom Shop Musician s Friend Special Run Vintage Pro 1960 Stratocaster NOS and now i am debating it.

Has anyone played or own a Fender Custom Shop Musician s Friend Special Run Vintage Pro 1960 Stratocaster NOS and would you reccomend it. Also are they build in america? and what are the difference between the 62 RI and Fender Custom Shop Musician s Friend Special Run Vintage Pro 1960 Stratocaster NOS?

Thanks you

Yeah, but they occasionally do special editions for important dealers! ;-)

You can look on Fender.com and get the specs on the 62 RI. I'm not sure if the specs for the Musicians friend strat are on here or not but if you want to compare'the two you should get the specs for each one and see which one you like eh? Play'em, play'em, play'em too.. Eh???

You are debating between a Custom Shop Fender and a regular production line Fender??? This is the easiest answer to any post I've made here. If you have the money, go with Custom Shop. It's like asking, "should I have a McDonald's burger or should I have the filet mignon"? :P

*Not that there is anything wrong with the '62 reissue. They are awesome guitars and I yearn for one, but the Custom Shop is in another league compared to the regular production line Fenders and they hold their resale value well.

Yes as mentioned earlier, the Custom Shop is located in Carona, California. The '62 RI is built there also.

For differences between the two just compare the specs: CS 1960 http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... =505727935

And here: 62 RI http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0100100805

The CS 1960 has some modern features such as 9.5" neck radius, 5-way switch, narrow jumbo frets, RWRP middle pickup. The '62 is all vintage spec if that matters to you.

the 62 avri is sweet too.

With a Custom Shop guitar, ( I have the CS 56 NOS Strat, sunburst, gold hrdwr, vintage specs etc...) you receive an instrument with a certificate which is signed by one of the CS artisans, that person handled/built up that guitar from start to finish, tuned it and dialed it in as a vintage specs guitar should be, had it traveled thru time to today.
There is going to be a significant timelapse of a few weeks, couple of months between order and delivery if you order one from the dealers.
Personally they are worth the wait.

A reissue is a production run, still well made but not tweaked like the custom shops as far as matching woods and the minute details that differentiate between Bespoke and Off the Rack.

Having, a CS, an MIM Deluxe and an American standard I can say that both the MIM and the standard where tweaked to my preference whereas the CS was left as received.

My choice when it concerns Vintage is to go for the Custom Shop, it will be the closest possible to an original but will have a cost of admission.

Desire and Budget will dictate.
