I'll take Ali. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. No disrespect to Tyson, I love him due to the fact he was partly responsible for the best boxing game ever made, but c'mon it's Muhammad Ali.

That being said, strat vs tele is a different story altogether, due to the fact that they are both made of wood and cannot fight ^^

...I don't have any analogies so I'll just speak my mind.

Personally, I'be never liked the telecasters. First it was just an aesthetic thing, I thought the looked too simple and unimaginative, then I got the chance to play several. I didn't hate the sound, but I sure didn't love it. They sem to be an average joe to me - they dont stand out for any reason, good or bad.

I wouldn't say no if I was offered one, but I wouldn't buy one.

..its like Microsoft versus Apple, wayhey I thought of one :-)

I played Strats for a very long time without ever owning of really ever much playing a Tele.... One day I got a great deal on a Tele used that I could not turn down. The more I played it the more I liked it... Now I like it better than that Strat... There is a presence to the Tele that is amazing....

When I saw The Who in 1982, on what was supposed to be their farewell tour... yeah right.... Pete Townsend played nothing but custom Schecter Tele's. He had loads of them and changed guitars every song. I really worked for him. I didn't even like Tele's back then, but I sure liked watching him play that night... He was on fire...

All of Led Zepplin 1 and 2 were recorded with a Tele, as was the solo on Stairway to Heaven.... Need I say more?

TJ

Hey, didn't Jimi Hendrix always play a Tele..... LOL Wait.. that last one I got carried away with... It is safe to say he always played and destroyed Stratocasters.

Billy Gibbons toured as opening act with Hendrix while he was in the band "Moving Sidewalks".... He hung out with Jimi a lot during that tour, because Hendrix thought he was a great guitarist... He was right... Billy says that Hendrix had no problem playing Strats straight off the wall... He said one day Fender shipped Jimi 18 Strats. They were throwing guitars at Hendrix.... and he gave Billy a 1957 Pink Strat, which Billy has to this day. Pretty nice gift huh? It is probably worth a fortune... and if Gibbons signed it.. It would be worth more.... I say that because on the "Pearly Gates" signature model Les Paul, you could buy it for 25k unsigned, but if Billy signed it... the price jumped to 45k. I am not sure why guitar companies make guitars that 99.9% of the population cannot afford. Who pays 45k for a guitar these days? The only person I can figure is Billy Gibbons... and that is only if he doesn't sign it.. lol
