this started a while back , i was having problems with the switch and i put it down to that , but after a switch change it's still the same , the noise sounds like scratches on an old vynal record , the pots work fine , no crackling from them , so i was just wondering if anyone had any idea of what could be causing it ? . oh the strat is from 89 and it's a mij TIA

It will be either a loose wire or a bad or dirty contact.
In which case soldering it or cleaning the contact or worse case replacing the switch will be required (if that's the actual problem).

Sometimes just manipulating the switch 50 times or so will fix it.

Jiggle the input as well and make sure its screwed tight. That is a common source of problems.
