i posted this link so we can be on the same page.
ive been thinking about wiring my cp 60s to have the tone control on the bridge and middle, or simply bridge.
forgive me for sounding confusing...

looking at this diagram logically, pickup wiring to the 5 way switch;
the tab closer to the pickups (not the same side as pots) connects the bridge lead wire. the next one the middle lead and 3rd the neck, and the 4th is the jumper.
now looking at the tabs closer to the pots:
1st one connected to volume pot tab 1, and jumper.
2nd is meant for the bridge no connection
3rd is actually the middle connects to 1st tab of last tone pot
4th the neck connects to the middle tab of 1st tone pot

((being thorough for my question))
if i want bridge and mid tone control i would just add a small jumper from
2nd - 3rd tab (the one that connects to pots)
and for just bridge control simply move the the wire from the 3rd tab to 2nd tab, right?
so confusing for simple wiring job, sorry fellas

Directly answering the segment of your quote above:

Looking at the diagram you provided:

On either side of the selector switch, there are four terminals. Now, look at the side of the selector which is nearer to the pots. This is the only side we shall concern ourselves with. You have one unused terminal. Solder a wire from that unused terminal to the terminal directly below it and your lower tone pot will then control the middle and bridge pickup.

If you want that lower tone pot exclusively for the bridge, unsolder the wire directly below the unused terminal and then solder it to the unused terminal. At this point though, you will have no tone control for the middle pickup.

If you want the upper tone pot to be for the neck and middle pickups (my personal preference), do what I said in the prior paragraph and then solder a link wire from the "newly" unused terminal to the bottom terminal.

If you have any more questions, just yell! :)

thanks martian,

this just means i figured out a little portion of the wiring diagram, and i can wire the tone pot to control the bridge.

i didnt even consider your personal preference tone pot controlling neck and mid. i may wire it like that.

ceri, open up the mini bar and lets have a couple of shots, ill bring the tequila....no worm...

You're welcome; enjoy the wiring and the booze!
