Hi Paco-strat!

I have a set of Lace Hot Golds with the 13.2k bridge in a parts-caster wired up to an S-1 switch and the Clapton mid-boost kit.

IMO they are outstanding pickups. Clever design, great build quality and probably the best noiseless pup on the market today. They're a high output tonal delight to my ears. If you haven't tried out Lace Sensors before I recommend you do so before you spend any money as they are a very contemporary sounding pickup and are not to everyone's tastes.

Hope this helps

Andy

Tonewise there cant be 2 guys further apart.Steve Vai uses mostly humbuckers while Gilmour uses EMG single coils.

The only way to get the sound of both Gilmour and Vai is to use humbuckers with coil tap,as Budglo stated one used single coils and the other humbuckers.Of course you could go with a 6 and 6 double neck with humbuckers on one and single coils on the other.

Pickup selection is a very subjective thing. A lot of people swear by lace sensors. Even if they don't offer the particular tone you're after (and I'm not saying they won't), you might just like them anyway.

What the hell is a Pink Gloyd? :D

Okay, I get it you mean Pink Floyd (David Gilmore) and his tone.

I would say to nail him and to get Steve Vai, you need two different guitars.

AFAIK, the Seymour Duncan SSL-5 was developed for DG. I use the noiseless version - the STK-S6 and without even trying to sound like him, Gilmour just jumps out of the guitar from time to time...

Couldn't agree more about his tone having almost nothing in common with Steve Vai. They both use a lot of delay, and that's about it as far as I can tell.

If you insist on trying to get both tones from the same guitar, I'd try one of the following:
1. Make a compromise, an open sounding humbucker (lower output PAFs or maybe something from Bill and Becky Lawrence) might have enough output for Vai and enough "air" for Gimlour's Strat.
2. Get a higher output humbucker that splits really well... Dimarzio's Evolution might get you there, I'd look into Duncan's Hot P-Rails. Or one of the hotter single coil sized humbuckers if you want to keep the 3 single coils Strat looks.
3. Use active electronics, like the EMG circuits DG had on his guitar, might boost a lower output pickup enough to sound like Vai's higher output humbucker.

Can't tell you what would work better... active electronics are a good start because Gilmour used them anyway ("Pulse" era) - so you'll have 1 of 2.
