It seems as though I have developed an internal rattle in the neck of my American Deluxe. It happens when I strum the low E string and A strings.
Has anyone else had this? It there something wrong with the truss rod internally??
Thanks,
Dave :?

More than likely that silly microtilt screw rattling around. Check it is just tight enough to contact the back of the neck.

I'd be very very suprised if it was your trussrod, it's in a sealed box inside the neck.

Its that screw in the center of the neckplate on the tremolo cavity side edge.

You need a allen key to adjust it.

Better still take the neck off, take the screw out and put it in the cupboard.

In all seriousness, it does work loose and rattle around a bit

WOW, thank you for the GREAT info. Not sure if I want to tackle taking off the neck by myself though.
Thanks again.

You don't need to. Just ensure that the microtilt screw is slightly pressing against the plate.

It holds it firm and stops it rattling around.

Sorry I misunderstood. From the pictures thought you had to remove the neck.

Very interesting. I had no idea a truss rod could rattle when it has been adjusted for the string gauge you're using. I thought there is supposed to be tension on the neck all the time with the truss. I guess I have just never had this kind of a problem before. It just seems that if the truss rod was that loose you'd also have a heck of a bow in the neck too.
