Would it be ok to put Custom Shop Texas Specials In my AVRI 57 Would it affect the value of the guitar? Should I use Texas Specials or Something else from the custom shop. I love that Stevie Ray sound. But I like to play all kinds of music from blues to rock and roll to country. What pickups do you guys like? The original pickups sound awesome but there's always someting better. I want the best.

Hi bshane84,

Just about any changes that you make to the guitar will hurt the resale value. Just be sure to keep the original parts to put back if you sell later. Texas Specials are very nice pickups, they come stock in a lot of higher end Strats, and sometimes in other models too. Maybe you could go to a local guitar shop and try-out/listen-to models with the different pickups to see what you like. I have been wanting to try the Lindy Fralins, heard lots of good things about them. They are supposed to have a very vintage tone. :)

I have a guitar with texas specials and I have a guitar with custom shop 50s.I love em both I would definately save the original pickups even if you put TSs in the guitar. It will definately devalue it if you sell it unless you reinstall the 57/62s before you sell it.

Well I've learned a few things about my guitar today. I'm probably gonna leave it all original and trade it for a different strat. Thanks for the information guys.
