I nominate this for the Strat Centerfold of the Year Award!

In all seriousness, it should be in a bulletproof glass case on display somewhere as it is truly a MASTERPIECE!!

You get an '11' out of a possible '10' from me; hearty congratulations on this absolutely TREMENDOUS accomplishment!!!

Truly outstanding! I was holding off on the guitar of the month vote on the unofficial Warmoth site until I read this thread. You got my vote. Love the story and the passion behind it!
Cheers

Thank you Sir! (And indeed thank you all for the kind words!) That means a lot to me comming from Mr. Martian as I know 'Super Strats' aren't, let us say, your preferred vintage. I owe you for the excellent wiring schematic and sage advice provided many months ago.

Indeed Ceri and Niks 'Phoenix' thread helped me out tremendously as well as Kong's and Andybighair's just for the excellent projects themselves and pure reference material if nothing else - you guys rock!

That was nothing to do with me mate. Aside from a little encouragment I don't see how I could have possibly helped any.

All your own design work mate. Something to be very proud of.

Far better than just putting a pickguard on your guitar and running round screaming 'I modded my axe'.. Nothing wrong with that, but this is a different world aint it. The extent of planning and thought you've put into this is apparent to everyone. To echo Martian's take on it, guitar centerfold candidate for sure, whether you like superstrats or not.
I really hope Simms looks at this thread, his work on your guitar is impeccable. A real piece of art. When that guy rocked up here slating him, I asked why he didn't defend himself. Well his work does indeed speak for itself. Like good food, it's worth waiting for apparently.

My son is going to flip out when he sees this !!!

he has the giant posters on his wall including the aces high.

You have my vote for best of show and I'll bet it sounds pretty good too.

Fantastic..

Right, now you need a sister guitar, same sort of thing with German WW2 fighter aircraft decalls and images.. a matching pair.

Or what about a Rainbow Rising Strat? That would be incredible - I'd give real money just to see one of those..

Cheers mate!

Hey now, you DID help me pick out my very first tube amp! I gotta actually have something to plug my strat in TO, right? Right!
Without your advice I could have pissed my money away on some POS. So there. You helped and thats the end of it. :)

I did let Patrick (Sims) know eveything was finished and that he should come up for some air and check out some pictures.
I spoke with him Sunday night and he informed me he was indeed working on another WWII-themed warbird paint job. Although,
this time around it is of the Vought F4U Corsair on an Ibanez.

And now for the surprise final stage of my project!

RELICING!

More pics as soon as the rotary sander hits some wood!

You have absolutely got to be kidding!

I like relic's but you don't do it to a guitar like that, and even then not with a rotary sander. You stand up play the guitar, note where your body touches the guitar. Stick some light sandpaper to those area's of your body. Play standing again. See where the sandpaper has marked the body. Then hand sand, scrape with a craft knife blade, hit with a bike chain. Finaly darken with brown boot polish.
Not go at it with a rotary sander. Trust me mate I've relic'd a few guitars for people, less is definitely more.
