If you mean 'would I give it to him?'... Absolutely! It'd be my honor to do so!

Cheers,

Your altruism is commendable. This is what I would like to see happen. You get to be photographed with him and the guitar. He's writes you an appropriate letter thanking you. Then you create a nice presentation case containing the guitar, the letter, the photo, and you display on a wall in your home as art. Not too shabby an idea :?: I say this only because of the fact that George Harrison gave the famous rosewood Tele which Fender built just for for him, to Delaney Bramlett, as a gift of appreciation, and Bramlet ultimately auctioned it. That pissed me off to no end. I would prefer to see you remain owner of that great piece of work, and with a demonstrated appreciation of the artist who inspired it. This way, you can have your cake and eat it too.

I hereby resurrect this thread! (Temporarily at least) :)

Through the Iron Maiden Fan Club and its forums, I've managed to get
in contact with Mr. Colin Price who is Dave Murray's guitar tech.

Colin tells me he'll try and show the project to Dave, but Iron Maiden is
currently on-tour so things are a bit hectic.

"Hello Eric,
Thanks for the email. I've actually been keeping an eye on the build for a while and did mention it to Dave in passing before a show.
I will have a look at the spec for you, but we are in the middle of the tour right now and its a bit busy as usual.
It does look amazing, and im sure it plays wonderfully. Just remember to do what Dave does...play the crap out it lol

Cheers
Colin"

Woo-hoo!

Dave will be honoured. He´s a nice guy he wouldn´t take the guitar I am pretty sure.
He will sign it and say keep the guitar and play the hell out of it as long as you live.

Cheers,
Robin

Sir, my hat is off to you as the designer, builder, and owner of the most badass strat to ever be strung. I hope you get to meet and shred with your idol because you sure deserve it. Job well done.

Hi all!

I apologize for this extreme necropost, but I recieved an email from the Fender Forum Admin's today telling me all the links to the pictures had died and requested an update post.

What happened to them? We'd like another look, but they have disappeared.
An update would be nice, too. Cheers.

So, I fixed all the picture links I could, did some light editing and offer up a few more (new) pictures of my DM strat.

Thanks!

It still looks as good as the day I finished it...

Oh, I almost forgot. It's been a while so here's an actual update.

Well, I've needed a guitar case for my DM strat ever since I finished it... I thought about getting a new or used G&G Fender case, but even used ones aren't cheap. Still, I wasn't going to skimp on protecting my baby. I heard from some people whom I trust recommending the CNB Flight case.

While watching Iron Maiden Flight: 666 I saw similar-style cases being used by the band while travelling:

So, my new flight case delivered... I decided to make it look like one of 'Maiden's road crew had already added it to inventory and brought on-tour...

Turned out nicely too... a few quick stencils, a razor, blue painters tape, and some primer + Rust-oleum rattle cans did the trick. It's a damn nice case for the money. The case is very rugged, well built, and the machined/brushed aluminum design is appealing as well. The plush black interior has a long molded neck channel to hold the guitar secure which is a nice touch - and the headstock area has molded channels to accomodate both standard and reverse pointy Jackson/Explorer headstock's with standard 13 degree angled necks. Highly recommended.

Cheers,
ORCRiST

Amen! So glad we could have them back! You and Ceri have done some badass guitars. Did you ever give that guitar to Dave?? BTW....the drummer has a ribs restaurant near me in SoFla. It's been on my 'dumb things I gotta do' list for some time now. Great to hear from you again.

Doc

Thanks Doc! I edited the post again while you wrote this, lol. No, its still in my possession - still waiting for the call from Mr. Murray, so I'll have to hold it in trust until then. Yeah I've known about Nico's restaurant, but being in Minnesota - it's kind of hard for me to check out on my own... Good to hear from you as well, Merry Christmas!

Ya know, it's only about 15 min south of me, and I've gone past that location to and fro from other adventures. Get to feel stupid after a time. When I finally make it in there, I'll get back to ya. Meanwhile, here' the link.

The volume knob placement looks funny.

Nice-looking guitar though.

Personally I would see a video of yours showing that firecracker in action (clean & dirty).

Not sure if Dave himself ever played the Ace High Supermarine onstage.

In case you decide making another DM-inspired guitar I would suggest throwing in a Seymour Duncan Dave Murray signature loaded pickguard on it or purchase the humbucking pickups separately.
