Hi everyone!
Can anyone help, please? I've a Strat bought in England in 1973, Serial No. 517366. Plays beautifully and feels great. I'd like to find out it's history and, maybe, it's value. I can't seem to find the serial no. on the Fender pages. Anyone tell me how to find out more? All information will be most welcome. Many thanks.
Bob

Your guitar was made at the
Fullerton Plant (Fender - CBS Era), USA
in the Year(s): 1973 - 1974

To find out the value see what a '73 Strat is going for at online vintage shops or find a store that does appraisals on vintage gear.

checking ebay listings will tell you how much money your guitar can sell for. it is not an accurate estimate of the actual value of an instrument.

Depending on its condition I would think a 73/74 would be worth a couple grand. It was not long ago people could not give away "vintage" gear.

What would be the difference between what you can sell something for and its actual value?

it means, a guitar has a set value, but people on ebay don't know that.
so they could be selling their original esquires for $100, but they're really worth way more.

Dear each,
Thanks to all for your replies. The condition of the guitar shows its age. It's been around the block a few times. Sweat and plectrum action has worn away the sunburst finish in the obvious places: think Rory Gallagher or Andy Summers. A ding here and there. It's still good to play though.
Thanks again,
Bob

Man I hope they bury you with it! Rory Gallagher's strat was the best looking piece of wood I ever laid eyes on, next is Jeff Becks Tele.

my meaning is that at any given moment, the same guitar can sell for vastly different prices on ebay. depending on how many people are bidding, how badly each person wants it, how much money they have, etc.
but if you took the guitar to be appraised, based on what it should reasonably sell for, the figure will usually be very different than standard ebay prices.

Good to hear there are still a few more out there. I've got a 74 Strat that I still play. Prices vary I've seen them as high as $7,000 and as low as $3,000
