I have a Japanese made Fender Stratocaster I bought new at Guitar Center in 1989. I see a lot of postings for "Series E", or "Japanese new edition Strat" and other such, and have seen in books things like "the xxx series has two string trees and a 4 screw truss rod cover...". How do I identify what this one is, series, actual model description, etc.?

I've also heard these may be valued higher than the Mexican made Strats, or the Korean Squiers, etc. Any ideas on that?

Steve

There are so many variables that I think you would be better off posting a few pics of the guitar here and we'll help identify it for you.

Your pictures have to be hosted at someplace like "Photobucket", then use the img code for that pic in a post here.

Well, I've heard there are different models that came out of Japan during different time periods, Like Series E? Anyway, this was from 1989, before they shifted to Mexico. Just wondering if it is anything special, or different from other standards, so I can properly price it.

There were quite a few different models that came out of Japan during the 80's.
I don't see anything special/unusual about that Standard.

E series is nothing more the serial no' prefix. I'm not aware of any special run of series E guitars.

"E" Series guitars were made from 1984 - 1989, all of the the other were one or two years.

4 of my 5 80's MIJ's are "E" Series.
