So yesterday I went to gc, played with the new am deluxe
I must say sounded awesome.
But, it wasn't until I picked up the American standard tele
that I was struck with the serious ailment.
Yup GAS.
Sigh....

Ya gotsta have a good tele.

Look at the Baja tele mate. Not absolutely perfect out the box, but close enough. A good wiring setup and a neck that is monster sized.
In fact even my two year old demands it is left lying around the front room so she can play it.
She can't get enough of the tele tone. Even though it's twice her weight.

I played the baja tele 2006 when originally purchased the
hwy 1.
I was more of an acoustic player then.
I was interested in a tele then, but really knew nothing.
I really dig the twisted tele and broadcaster pus.
Vintage neck, v shaped.

My new Tele was a VERY pleasant surprise. I passed on one numerous times till I tried a new Am standard...at <$900 gotta be one of the best values out there, and is one of my top faves now!

Not tried the 52RI mate. Can't imagine it's that much different given the ethos of the guitar and who designed it.

What I can tell you is that it's much heavier than a typical LP and the neck is thicker than the 58/59VOS's I have tried.

Bit of a monster all in. Despite the backache I use mine solely for slide.

Try it! It's a nice guitar - was tempted to buy it a few days ago but passed. I need the money to pay the rent ;-)
