Post subject: 2010 strat serial number question

Do all 2010 American standard strat serial numbers have "US" as part of the serial number? Example: US1010xxx. I've seen a couple (on ebay) that only have the numbers (no US before number) but made in USA on the front. Are these legit? Just want to understand this better.

I have seen American Specials both ways also, and '10 Teles referred as originally having no "US" also...I would think they are legit.

As far as I can tell Fender made the switch from the plain "10XXXXXX" serial numbers to the "US10XXXXXX" serial numbers sometime around May/June of this year.

I have noticed from the photos that the font of the "10" on those early-year guitars is very similar to the font of the other 6 numbers. I think that is what lead Fender to move to the "US10XXXXXX" format. Both are legit.
