Hi All,

Now i know that the string spacing is defferent on an American vs a Mexican guitar. My question is on the Mexican vintage re-issues, namely the 50's and 60's guitars, do these have the regular Mexican spacing or will they fit a vintage American 6 bolt tremolo? I am looking at building a 60 ri and have all the American parts but I have seen some nice Mexican re-issues on Ebay and am tempted in saving hundreds over the American counterparts.

Your only chance for a accurate body from fender is to buy a 62RI body. The contours are different on modern guitars and guitars from other years.

You can no doubt find 60's accurate bodies from other suppliers.

Other than that you'll need to drill new mounting holes.

I suggest if you do buy a mexican body you overlay the american tremolo to see which of the 6 holes you can get to line up.

The Mexican Classic 50s, 60s, and 70s have the wider Vintage USA spacing so an American vintage reissue Bridge will drop in just fine

Yes, I agree with Yogi, the vintage Amer 6 screw bridge will fit right on these Mex Strats. Amer 6 screw bridge string spacing is 2-7/32 inch (2-3/16), and mounting screw spacing is also 2-7/32, same as many Mex Strats like the 50s, 60s and 70s models. Putting an Amer bridge on the Mex Strat is probably the best improvement that you can make. :)

Correct.

The vintage-spaced MIA trem bridge also drops into the Jimmy Vaughn signature, the Deluxe Powerhouse, the Deluxe Player, and the now-discontinued Fat Strat models without need for modification.

Just an FYI the Jimmie Vaughn Strat comes stock with the American Vintage bridge and not the Ping unit :D
