I need to order and fit a wider 1" 7/8 neck to my MIM Strat.
However, what size do tuner holes to do need be?
My tuner pegs just have the Fender logo on them.

Are they;
Vintage Style 11/32"
Schaller 11/32" - 25/64"
Gotoh/Grover 11/32" - 13/32"
Sperzel - 25/64"
Planet Waves - 13/32

Also what Fret size should I order?

Hi spilly, welcome to the Forum.

Am I getting it right - you want to take the tuners off the MIM neck you currently own and put them on the new one? So you need to know what size pegholes to ask for?

It depends entirely which model MIM you have. If it is a "vintage reissue" type Strat (a Classic, or Classic Player, for example) they will be 11/32" holes. If it is a Standard or similar they will probably be 13/32", also known as 10 mm.

But if you are going to swap them over anyway, why don't you just take one off and measure it? Then you'll know for sure.

Or choose some new tuners that you like (any of those you listed are good, depending on your tastes) and have the pegholes drilled to match.

Who's making the neck for you, by the way?

Good luck - C

Thanks for your reply, I was going to oder a neck from Warmouth.

It looks a bit complicated though as there are lots of different options.

To add to my woes I'm also left handed. Warmouth is the only place I could find who do a left hand neck in a wide.

Perhaps I could order the new neck with the tuners already fitted.

Hi again spilly: don't worry, no woes. Just work your way through it logically and you'll get there fine. Warmoth are an excellent maker. I'm struggling to recall if I've ever heard a bad word about them. A lot of satisfied customers on this Forum, that's for sure.

I don't know whether they offer necks with the tuners ready fitted but either way it is not too challenging, and not as complicated as perhaps you might be thinking. Essentially, tuners fall into two categories: "vintage" and "modern". The former fit an 11/32" peghole, the latter 13/32", a.k.a. 10 mm. I know some of them seem to quote slightly different measurements than those but in real life things aren't quite so precise: there is wiggle room.

So decide which type of tuners you like best and then just order the smaller or the larger pegholes.

You haven't told us which model MIM you have. Let us know and we can probably tell you which tuners you have on there at present.

Or if you'd like tell us what you want in a tuner and we'll recommend some models for you. Then have the holes drilled to match.

How's that?

Cheers - C

Mine is a Standard (2001)

Here's the picture of the neck;

Perhap I'll have to pop a tuner off. It might be as well to order new tuners as well as I might have sell the old neck to part fund the purchase of the new neck anyway. I think it would be easier to sell with tuners fitted ready to go.

I'm quite happy with the current tuners as my guitar dosn't often go out of tune.

No need: those "modern" tuners have 10 mm / 13/32" shafts.

Just an added consolation for you: If you phone Warmoth, the person taking your order will be able to answer these types of questions. Simply ask like you did here, even tell them straight out about what you are unsure of and they'll walk you right through it; they are a good group!
