Heres a shot of my blackstrat with Jackson CRV2's fitted.

Their the same size as EMG's.

I did route the neck pickup cavity, the bridge pickup cavity was fine.

Made that pickguard myself too. You can do anything when you put your mind to it.

I put a batt box on my MIM strat. It was definitely a learning experience! If I had to do it again, I'd order the template from Stew-Mac along with the box. The measurements are the key if you don't! Plus, I was using a Dremel, and unless someone else knows of a different one, the plunge routing base on mine would only plunge to a depth of about an inch, which wasn't quite enough. That left me doing the rest "by hand", which was tricky, much less highly dangerous! I mean, spinning, cutting power tools around my hands and fingers? not a big fan, we're players first and foremost, right? You can pick up a plunge router from Sears for about $100 though, so if you think you might have a use for one in the future, that's what I'd do.

I placed the box approximately an inch behind the trem cavity, and drilled a hole from the batt box cavity into the jack cavity to run the wires from the box to get them into the main cavity. Once again, measurements are the key, because I wanted to get it close enough to drill the hole into the jack cavity without the cavities actually meeting, if that makes sense. Once again, I need to put some pics on here, I just need to make the time! I'll try when I get off of work, or over the weekend, because I have some work to do to it (dummy coil and shielding paint).

I too added the string saver saddles and nut though, and they worked out great! Check out the MIM club thread if you wanna see what all I did to mine. Once again, no pics yet, but I think I was the last one to post on that thread, and it may give you some ideas for yours.

Good luck!

On another note, I was looking at the standard strat SSH online and i noticed that the humbucker hole in the pickguard is a bit rounded on the corners to accommodate the humbucker and have it fit snuggly. I don't know what made me think of it, but i went to the EMG website to check out the Pickups I want and I noticed that the humbucker that's included in the set is more square. My question now is: Will the humbucker fit the pickguard without me having to modify the pickguard? More specifically will I have to make the humbucker hole bigger? I don't understand why they would sell a "Strat" set and not have the humbucker fit, but you never know. What do you guys think? I would hate to have to make the hole in the pickguard bigger.

I believe WD music sell a pickguard that has a humbucker hole that would suit an EMG bucker.

Hope this helps
