Hallo everybody,

Could somone help me to identify my MIM body. The seller told me it`s a vintage 60`s reissue body from the classic serie`s. The body has a barcode: M00385455

All I got is this site, not sure on models but it will give year and plant assembly...

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

watch ebay for fakes, there is forums on how to spot one, I ran you serial on that site above and came back with nothing, I run my MIM strat and tells me this:

Your guitar was made at the
Ensenada Plant (Fender), Mexico
in the Year(s): 2008 - 2009

One thing I can tell you is that M00385455 is NOT a serial number. These barcode numbers applied at the factory tell you nothing about the date of manufacture. They are part numbers and just used for internal inventory puposes. You need the serial number from the original neck to date the guitar.

Your ebay link shows no pics. Can you take a pic? What is written in the neck pocket? Any other barcode labels?

Here is the parts list for the 60's Classic Series: http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 00CPg3.pdf
I do not see anything referencing M00385455. Check the other barcode numbers to see if they correspond to the various body part numbers in the list (each color body has its own part number).

If all else fails, contact Fender customer service. Good luck!

Hi jgemmeker,

It looks legitimate to me, very nice too. :) The correct name for the body that you are referring to, may be a "Classic Series 60s" Strat. The words "Vintage" and "Reissue" have nothing to do with that body, there are no "Vintage" or "Reissue" MIM Strats. I guess people like to use those words way too often to describe Strats that are neither.

I have a 'Classic Series 70s" Strat, and I think that the "Classic Series" are excellent guitars. You can email, call or write Fender with the number on the sticker, and maybe they can tell you what it came from.

Hi metropolis74,

I don't think that the number in the body is a part number. For the eBay link, I had to copy the item number (290485923003), and do a search on my eBay to get it to show up. The body is in Duitsland, (Germany?), not for sale in US. :(
