Ah, the power of layaway... Well, I just wanted to pick up a nice standard Strat to take to lessons and maybe do some mods just to learn more about guitars. So, about two months ago, I stop in the local Fender dealer and he's got this Sunfire Orange Strat there on display. Well, after a few layaway payments, its mine!

The pickups sound pretty decent but I've been wanting to try modding a Strat so this will probably be the testbed. I'm considering maybe getting a loaded American Special SSS pickguard... That way, I can keep the original electronics intact...

CONGRATS !!!

That is a real beauty, and the back yard don't look so bad either. Nice view.

Great pics and congrats. That orange sure sparkles in that light. What time of day did you shoot the pics? I love 'em.

I took the pictures about 6:30 p.m., just before sundown. The light was just right -- kinda yellow and strong... That flake paint really sparkles, especially in that kind of light.

It was kinda funny when I was looking at the guitar, trying to decide to buy it not. I was also considering a Classic '50's in two-tone Sunburst, hanging right next to the Sunfire Orange Strat. What a contrast between the two -- one outrageous, one very traditional.

Noicey Noicey Nice guitar Oldguy.

Hey don't bother with the preloaded guard, solder your own pickups onto it mate.
In at the deep end! You'll learn plenty from doing it.

Nice Finish with the maple neck, I would TRY a tortiseshell Pickguard. The standard is a little plain. 8)

Yeah, you might be right -- swapping pickguards is too easy.... I need to do some research and figure out which way to go with it. I've got an Am Deluxe HSS and a Classic Players '50s so I gotta figure out what would complement those two soundwise..

Beautiful guitar and that's a good idea to go with the SSS loaded pickguard,I'm just an old fashioned SSS layout fan and never went for the HSS setups at all.

The sun hitting that finish makes for a great picture.

Good luck with it!

Choice has to complement the finish and not detract from it. In this case, the white might be just purrrfect.

Personaly I think a anodized scratchplate with alumitone pickups would look perfect.

Not Heavy Metal, just Very Metal.
