Strip the neck of everything. Tuners, nut, frets, position markers. Sand sand sand, lightly, gradually moving to fine wet and dry paper. Install markers, shave markers down if needed. Refret, refinish, install nut and tuners. Play.

I'm about to order the much needed fretwire for my MIM. That is in much need of a good clean up.
Thinking about ditching the clapton circuit on the guitar too. Doing a bit of a fill in on the body routes. Wire it like that S1 wiring but with a neck+bridge option.

Get these fuzz's out first. Ordered the boxes a week ago from Gapco. Their still not here.

Still not 100% happy with em. In fact soon as the next two auditions are out the way, I'm setting about the circuit with a pair of snips and a hot iron.
Basicaly the 'mistake' I made on the first one that sounded so good was due to the power smoothing capacitor not being grounded. I tried to make a groundlift switch so the effect could be used as a switchable gain boost. Alas it doesn't take immediate effect.

Twelvebar has done the decal design for Mr X's pedal. I must say it's stunning work.

Steel wool would clean it up.

That's what I use to keep bare spots on maple necks clean ...

it's less abrasive (and better for the long term) than sanding ...

My other guitar is a Strat.

In my opinion, which isn't worth much mind you, is that the wear and tear on a fingerboard is what gives it character. I agree that a nice white fingerboard looks nice but there's also something really cool about a neck when you can see where it's been used the most, which usually turns out to be the a minor pentatonic. Haha! I wouldn't clean it.

Hi Nevin: if the dirt is deep you ain't going to get it clean without lowering the level of the fingerboard some.

So: it sounds like it's time for that scalloped fingerboard you'd always intended to try.

Hey don't do that: that'll really filthy up your fingerboard.

Dan Erlewine says that the acids in vomit are especially bad for guitars. He recommends that if you've been puking on your hands you should always wash them before playing the instrument. Sage advice.
