If you're use to the jumbos or medium jumbos they could take a bit of getting used to but they are extremely comfortable especially for barre chords.

I like 'em. They're what I cut my teeth on. Back in the day they made you really work hard to get that perfect bend, but when you got it right, it felt great.

I've gotten used to the 'speed bump frets' now too and like not having to work as hard to get to where you're going.

+1

It requires some luthiery "magic" to render a neck with vintage frets and 7.25" radius capable of mega-bends without fretting out but the results are very gratifying.

HTH

Hi Retroverbial: uh-hu? Interesting point of view.

I use pretty much a Fender spec setup on my guitars as to action and relief. So not super low - but not stupidly high either. I never have any issues with fretting out on bends up to a tone and a half on my vintage spec necks - which is as far as most of us need to go.

Odd thing: on all of these issues my hands seem to be much less worried by differences than many who's posts I read. I seem to be able to switch instantly between super jumbo and vintage frets and everything in between with absolutely no difficulty. And between 7.25, 9.5, 12 inch and bigger radius fingerboards too.

Maybe my hands are magnificently adaptable - or maybe they're just pig ignorant and don't notice the difference too much!

Cheers - C

Oh, probably better not. Of the two I'm sure it's the "too dumb to know the difference" option.

Cheers man - C

Funny! Yes, my hands are in the to dumb to know category as well... I just like playing with all different kinds of guitars and try to appreciate them for what they are.... Your comment made me laugh, thanks.

That's a sweet guitar! Everyone is different, but I like skinny frets. If you can play "vintage" frets, you can play anything. You won't have any trouble going back. Do it!!

I'm not into bending so much, and I prefer not to accidently bend when I'm pressing my chords. The Vintage ones I've ever played, I seem to like better. I've never owned one with them though.

I have the vintage frets on my 57 AVRI, and i love them, very comfortable. Like everyone already said, barre chords are really comfy too. I find bending to be pretty easy once its set up by a guitar tech.
