Hello all,
I have a question that no one seems to have an answer for yet. Has anyone done a mod on a Strat using S-1 switching in combination with a super 5-way selector and three 4 wire humbucker pickups ?

Howdy and Welcome!

Blimey!

3 coil split humbuckers and the S-1 switching system... Sounds Big & Hairy!

What pickup combinations are you after?

With a bit of direction we might be able to help you out here... but no promises as Its might well be too head reckingly complicated for me! I do like a challenge though.

I want to put Seymour Duncans in this configuration. This will be a HSS with a Little 59' in the neck position, a Little Screamin' Demon in the middle position, and a TB-4 JB in the bridge position. Tell me what you think we can do with these pickups.

Crikey!

There's a hell of alot you could do with those pups. I suppose its all down to how many switches your willing to have.

The S-1 alone ain't gonna split all of those pups and give you series and parallel combos. My recommendation would be to have a DP/DT (on/on/on) switch for 3 way coil splitting each of the humbuckers then wire those to the S-1 switch for series & parallel options. Its an awefull lot of tone s on offer there mate!

I would take me a bloody long time to sort a wiring diagram out for all of that. How serious are you about all of this? Are you going to be wiring this up yourself?

I completed the wiring last night. I combined the S-1 with a Super 5 way and the pickups. I have 9 combinations in the finished product. Some series and parallel and some single coil. I will be tuning and testing the results this evening to see what I it sounds like. I will keep you posted on the results.

The project is complete and the guitar sounds great. I now have an instrument that can go from 3 different humbuckers to 3 different single coils to 2 series and 2 parallel combinations. It may seem like alot of effort to put all of this in one package but that was my intention from the start. I am just getting started into the world of electric guitars. I have always wanted to play. I am learning new skills everyday. I will continue to push the edge into new territory. It should be about discovery and finding new ways to create tone.

Good stuff! Thats my kind of wiring. Plenty of options.

Keep us posted on your future projects. I for one like your style. 8)

Sounds like fun, what amp combo are you playing thru ?.

Could you post the schematic drawing of the wiring/pups setup?

One of my 3 projects this fall/winter is a rewiring of an HSS set up.
pups are Carvin's M22 in bridge, S11's in mid and neck.
single to dual coil switch for the M22, but I'm also going to combine an SI volume switch with the standard 2 tones and a 5 way.

This is not a Fender but a clone copy a " J B Player ".

A complete overhaul is the plan, routing out of the bridge area for a new solid wood graft, ( this will be a hard-tail ) then a refinish of the body, new abalone inlays in the fingerboard instead of the plastic dots,
All the hardware was upgraded years ago but I may go for a change in tuners, to Gotoh's mini 510 delta's. I have a set of the 510's on my 94 Larrivee OM10 acoustic.
