I was wondering... How much could I sell this 1991 Squire Strat with humbuckers for on craigslist?

Good for you man...I don't think you would've gotten much more, considering brand new Squire's only get about 150 (on average). Gotta love the list o' craig.

Not necessarily true. There are some vintage Squiers that are worth $500-1000

Being that Squire Strats were first shipped in 82 (correct me if I'm wrong), I have a hard time believing that there are very many that may be worth something. If there are vintage Squires worth money, my guess is that it would be the first or second run...just because it's the first or second run...other than that, I just don't see it. But I welcome it if you wanna prove me wrong.

MIJ Squiers with "E" series serial numbers can run up to $500.

Yes the first runs are highly sought after and priced accordingly.

Here is an '83 that sold for close to 600

Its only a SQ Series, the earlier JV series are worth more than the SQs. E series have been rising in value too.

The top price I can find in the V.G. price bible is $400 for an '82-'89.

The first couple years of strats I've seen go for as much as $750, but that's because they are fundamentally Dan Smith's. They were made from leftover parts, the only diff is really the name on the headstock and lack of case. and the parts were a few years old. They are American Fender's from Fullerton, vintage strats no matter how you cut it.

What they are priced at and what they sell for is a very different matter. Never seen a real first issue JV Squier go for $400 in recent years. Maybe about 10 years ago, but not now

Where did you get this? The JVs are very different from Dan Smiths. Yes they have some of the same era usa made pickups, but other than that they are very different guitars.

Yall check out http://www.21frets.com/squier_jv/jvdetails_1.htm

to get more accurate info on the series

Thanks for that. I had been under the impression(wrong it seems), that they were essentially leftover American parts that were assembled in Japan essentially. It seems that is only the case with the pups.
