Saw one once many years ago. I can't believe people played those things. I guess it was to force you to keep your thumb behind the fingerboard?

Please post any pics of yours. I'd like to see one again.

Havent found any Vnecks to be like that. Not even the gargantuan one on my Baja Tele, much less strat ones. Their thinner than other necks not thicker.
I've always found they encourage thumb over the top playing. The point of the V sitting inbetween the thumb and index finger.

I've got an 09 V-neck American Deluxe...it's not bad at all...perhaps not as much a sharp V as some older models...but definitely not a C either. It didn't take me long to get used to it...I actually felt it was pretty comfortable in the store (I got it used - in mint condition) for about a grand. It puts your hand in a position that kinda facilitates string bending. I should mention...it's a compound radius..unlike anything previous (I think)...so that helps in the leads/soloing department.
I dig mine though...I wouldn't trade it. Sorry..don't have a picture of it alone...this is with a newer American Special...

The one I played was a '57 model, if I remember correctly. This was back in the late '80's when I saw it in a shop where I worked. The back of the neck looked like a triangle - very sharp! I just couldnt get my head ( or hand) around it.

Thanks for the insight and the great pics! I'll have to try one again and see how I like it now that I am much older and a better player than before.

The Jimmie Vaughn Strat has a very slight V and is extremely comfortable to play even with the neuro-muscular condition and small hands I have.
