I am having a hard time visualizing this. Like little V shaped markers on the edge of the neck? Does Martian really "have mail"????

Martian,

You have mail!

Andy

Got it and I’ve received some more stuff today:

From The_Nutter, I’ve received our back-of-headstock Custom Shop Logo design ready for decal. You've seen this beauty on the previous page.

From Andybighair, he has transposed my complete wiring diagram (scribbling) into a professional, first rate illustration.

Image

From Xhefri, I’ve received a Fender (CTS) 500K pot (our lower tone control) and a Fender tortoise backplate to match our pickguard.

From tyronne, I’ve received a nice new set of Ernie Ball Super Slinkys.

From Kong, I’ve received a set of Schaller glossy tuners and a jack cup.

Image

That white glare on the backplate is from my florescent light. As you all may or may not know, I only started using a digital camera right here with this thread so please bear with me; I can only get better, I hope.

As always, my profound thanks to one and all!!

Wow Martian, that seems almost like Christmas! Or would Birthday be a better fitting description? So cool that all the puzzle-pieces are falling into place here! And the best thing is, we get to watch it! Now that's what I call productive global human interaction. Nice! :D

Andy has once again proven to be a master of wiring diagrams, and also of robot design (and speach bubble design!), thanks to you my nuttery brain understands the implementation of those caps. I dig!

Well folks this is proving to be one of the highlights on this forum. A real treat, if you ask me.

Keep it coming! 8)

Word has it that the neck shall be here this Wednesday!

Actually, I'm really looking forward to the wiring. As you or anyone else who is familiar with wiring in general can see, this ain't no 'ordinary' wiring!

Quick question. Should the caps be "in-line" in the wiring to the Pot? Or should the hot wires go directly to the pot and then the cap being on the ground side of the pot?

Christmas and birthday times 100! I tell you, this is a totally unique experience for me and I'm as excited as can be!

I figured you'd dig the caps once you dug the reasoning.

Either way is correct however, there are consequences. To wire it the way you suggest, the sweep of the tone pots is a bit more dramatic. However, when lowering the volume pot, highs tends to go with it too. Hence, this is why (in part) people do the treble retention circuit on the volume pot. My way, the highs don't get sucked out with the lowering of the volume and therefore, no need for an erratic and usually overcompensating, treble retention circuit.

Ha. That is so interesting. That little nugget justifies this thread all on its own, far as this electronics dunce is concerned. I'm immediately itching to try it out - thank you!

Cheers - C
