If it don't sell, why would they keep making it?

Sales drives everything for a manufacture, my guess is to lower costs and to help sales they moved it to a MIM unit just like the Robert Cray model.

They didn't really move it to a MIM model, there were USA Buddy Guys and Robert Crays Available at the same time. I think they may still offer those USA models, you just have to special order them.

I can't figure out the rhyme or reason why models disappear and then reappear on the Fender website. I was on the site on Friday and the Jeff Beck Strat was missing from the list; I just checked and it is back today.

I would love to know how much money Jeff Beck gets for each one of his signature guitars sold? $10? $20? $50? $100?... what would you guess?

Does Fender in fact pay its endorsees?I thought that they just kept them supplied with multiple copies of their signature instruments.Like I'm hoping they'll do with the Guitslinger "65 model Sunburst Strat lol.

Appearance and disappearance are par for the course with that products section, but there's another BG in the works for next year and that's the blond guitar he's been playing. It was gone over in detail at Crossroads this summer by Todd Krause and the specs taken back to the CS.

Thanks for all the comments...this guitar is one of several I have been gassing about. I like all the vintage stuff aand the lace sensors...
By the way...they didnt move Buddy's and Robert Cray's to mim...those to mim have been available for some time.

Also thanks for the heads-up about a fresh B.G. in the works...always good to know.

Yeah I'm sure they do pay their higher profile endorsees.

I think I read somehere on this forum that Clapton gets £100 from the sale of each clapton strat.

That coupled with the cost of a handfull of CS guitars a year. I think that works out at quite cheap advertizing of that model considering the notoriety of the wall the poster is pasted to

So it looks like it will be a more expensive CS version of the earlier blond production instrument?

I saw this one selling used at Musicgoround about six months ago for $1100

Different. Check out Crossroads 2010. It's a guitar that was built for him some years back.

They had to make room for 3 more ridiculously overprice John Mayer models and 3 more models for obscure guitarists who don;t deserve a sig model.

The blonde BG Strat you're talking about has a set of Vintage Noiseless pickups installed.

It seems that Buddy decided to made the switch to the VN after so many years (I suppose his white polka dot uses the same pickups as the blonde one).

BTW the Black Polka Dot Standard has regular alnico pickups. Buddy's own guitar sports Lace pickups with black covers and an active circuit.

When I owned this guitar I swapped out the stock MIM's for a set of DiMarzio Heavy Blues. I also stopped the bridge block ala the Clapton. the guitar was killer but was swapped out for the CS I acquired several years ago. If you look carefully at the original stage guitar you'll note a distinct difference in the dot pattern from the MIM, and I believe the control knobs were white. The instrument in this photo appears to be an MIM body with Lace Sensors and not the original stage guitar.
